Ramkarpal stated he would seek clarification as the dress code interpretations set were misleading and confusing.
He said the cases were lodged in desperate situations and required a sense of urgency.
“They shouldn’t be asked to go home and dress accordingly as parties involved in road accidents must lodge reports quickly to prevent any negligence and for insurers to assess the cases correctly,” he said as quoted from The Vibes.
Ramkarpal said police must implement a dress code for all facilities to ensure the public were not confused.
He was speaking at the Lunar New Year open house which was also attended by DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and DAP vice president Chow Kon Yeow.
Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said police stations did not allow certain types of clothing unless it was an emergency as it fell under the government offices category.
The issue had been raised in Parliament in 2015 for the abolishment of dress codes and Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram) had fought towards reinstating its position.
