Johor MACC nabs lab worker for taking bribes to fix drug test results

JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a medical laboratory employee for allegedly accepting RM20,000 to change the result of drug tests.

It is learnt that Segamat MACC detained the 51-year-old man to help with the investigation into allegations that he asked for and accepted the bribe.

The suspect was detained at the Johor Baru MACC office after having his statement recorded at around 8.30am on Tuesday (Feb 7) morning.

It is also learnt that the suspect, who works at a government hospital, allegedly solicited and accepted bribes from people whose urine samples were being tested for drugs.

When contacted, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest and said the case was being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

It is learnt the suspect will be brought to the Johor Baru Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (Feb 8) morning for a remand application.
