Two brothers hurt in crocodile attack near Pitas

PITAS: Two brothers were injured when they were attacked by a crocodile at Kampung Sinasak here today.

They were installing a water pump along Sungai Bengkoka in the 5.30pm incident.

Police said the 53-year-old victim sustained serious injuries to his legs, hands and body while his 51-year-old younger brother suffered minor injuries to his right hand and left leg.

District police chief Superintendent Zairolnizal Ishak said while busy fixing a PVC pipe in the river, a crocodile, measuring about 2.4 meters long suddenly bit the leg of one of the victims.

“The other brother then tried to help but ended up being bitten as well,”

“However, they managed to save themselves and were rushed to the Pitas Hospital by family members,” he said when contacted.

He added that the 53-year-old victim is still receiving treatment at the hospital.

“The younger brother with light injuries was given an outpatient treatment.”
