KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — National hockey player Hanis Nadiah Onn has been indefinitely suspended from the national team after making a racial slur during a recent AR Rahman concert.
In a statement today, the ministry said that the outcome of the investigation conducted by National Sports Council (MSN) and Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) decided that Hanis would be excluded from the upcoming 2023 SEA Games held in Cambodia.
“Accordingly, the Investigation Committee decided for the MHF not to consider Hanis from representing the national hockey team in any international assignment including the Cambodia SEA Games 2023.
“The KHM will re-evaluate this decision if Hanis exhibits a positive change in attitude throughout the period,” it said.
Last month, Hanis had on her Instagram account allegedly left a racist comment on the concert last month, implying that it would have been smelly.
